The Activity

So, once upon a time in New Zealand lived one guy called Francis who traveled around the world and came to the Latvia countryside, didn't want to go back and stayed in a small country town called Rūjiena. Francis liked music a lot and he decided to make a band in Rūjiena which could play his own sweet old songs, that were written a long time ago(some available to hear also on his CD "Golden Seed" http://goldenseed.fotofrancis.lv).
The band appeared in the summer of 2006. This Band is a group of five members and each of them like his own instrument the best. Francis's instrument is voice! Also the band is playing different kinds of cover songs, taking old very well known world songs, playng them in councerts thereby presenting not only Francis's songs . Finaly- the band is slowly growing up by writing new songs as The Activity. The first is called Rūjiena, so and you should like it offcourse:)

Now for a bit of background, Francis has been working on finishing his CD project (which in the end took about 6 years including other world travels a Latvian lady, and a child, and another CD project with a Swedish guitarist based in Oslo called "Radiance"...) So in about April of this year he was told that there were some good rocking players (Anna, Janis, and Janis) from the local "Vidusskola" so Francis get to know them start working on songs from his CD to perform for various concerts with them, and it goes so well, but something was still missing...

Then Francis meet Uģis a.k.a Cat from Japan, (See also Cat from Japan here in Draugiem Mūzika) he has actually been a neighbour of Francis for a lot longer but because Francis's son liked to visit Uģis's puppy, who plays in their yard musicians meet and started talking about guitars and music etc...Ugis was looking for guitarists in Rūjiena and found one extra anordinary... so Francis asked him to join in what band was doing, and this is the last piece in the puzzle as from then on band found that they just fitted so well together, they needed to find a name... band members talked about some many other names and in the end came around to "The Activity".

So The Activity performed together first at the "Original Music Night Concert 3" a project Francis run in Valmiera for original music playing people, band recorded these songs live at this concert, and then they did one concert in "Spalvas pa gaisu" then The Activity had started doing quite a few more covers from other well known bands like "Red hot chillipeppers" , "Metallica" & "Radiohead"... And then an oppotunity came to play for a wedding of a friend of Francis... so band went ahead and it was great... musicians learned "Ai jel manu vieglu pratu" and had a great time on the night...

Now Francis have to wait for about 8 months before They all can get back into doing concerts regularly again as all other band members are hard studying... not that Francis also don't have lots to do but... summer will come and band will be back in full swing, rock, pop, and original instrumental song Activity as "The Activity"! :)

Un tā, reiz Jaunzēlandē dzīvoja džeks vārdā Francis, kurš, ceļojot apkārt pa pasauli, nonāca Latvijā un , negribēdams vairs doties atpakaļ, palika mierīgā Latvijas nostūra mazpilsētiņā Rūjienā. Francim ļoti patika muzicēt un viņš nolēma izveidot grupu, kas varētu spēlēt viņa agrāk pašsacerētās un mīļās dziesmas (liela daļa iekļautas diskā “Golden seed” sīkāka info-http://goldenseed.fotofrancis.lv).

Grupa piedzima 2006. gada vasarā. Šī grupa sastāv no pieciem muzikāliem cilvēkiem, kur katrs ļoti mīl savu instrumentu. Grupa vēl bez Franča dziesmām spēlē dažādu pasaulē slavenu mūziķu darbus. Muzicējot, nenovēršami parādās arī jaunas idejas un dziesmas, kas tad arī ir īstie Grupas The Activiti skaņdarbi. Pirmā dziesma nosaukta Rūjienas vārdā un Tev tā noteikti jānoklausās un jāiemīl!

Un tagad nedaudz precīzāk...

Francis daudz strādaja pie sava diska izdošanas, kas ilga veselus sešus gadus smagā muzicēšanas darbā, ceļošanā pa pasauli (arī uz Latviju). Vēl bez tā, Francis iesaistījās vienā Zviedru muzikas projektā “Radience” , kopā muzicējot ar zviedru ģitāristu. 2006. gada aprīlī Francis uzzināja par dažiem labiem mūziķiem no Rūjienas apkārtnes (Annu un diviem Jāņiem). Mūziķiem vaig tikai iemeslu, un drīz vien visi kopā, viņi strādāja pie Fraņča dziesmu repertuāra un diska prezentācijas koncertiem. Viss gāja uz priekšu it kā labi, bet joprojām kaut kas trūka...

Francis satika Uģi (Cat from Japan- mūzikas projects arī draugiem.lv mūzikas sadaļā), pastaigājoties ar savu dēlu, kuram ļoti patika Uģa šunelis Rihters. Uģis (solo ģitārists) savukārt gribēja iepazīt kādu Rūjienas ģitāristu un tā, abi satiekoties, iepazinās. Grupai līdz šim bija trūcis solo ģitārists un Uģis piekrita darboties līdz. Beidzot grupa jutās pilnīga un izdomāja, ka sauks sevi par The Activity.
Nospēlējusi vairākus koncertiņus raibās vasaras laikā kā arī spēlējusi kāzās, grupa attīstījās un repertuārā sniedza arī pasaules slavenu mūziķu dziesmas kā "Red hot chilli peppers" , "Metallica" & "Radiohead" u.c. Grupas dalībniekiem tā bija lieliska iespēja muzikālās pieredzes un izauksmes iegūšanā, bet, pienākot aktīvajai mācību un darba sezonai, līdz jūlijam The Activity atliek malā tik sirdij tīkamo muzicēšanu.

Un, kad pienāks jūnijs The Activity atkal atsāks muzicēt un būs muzikāla aktīva koncertēšana swing, roka, popa un instrumentālās mūzikas skaņās.
