Chris Lies is 14 year old Swedish electro- and progressive house producer and DJ. One could describe his music style as the blend of melodic, intense and energetic.
Starting out with violin at the age of 7, and cello and piano some years later, Chris did not have much in common with “modern music” until the age of 13. The house music scene was something new to him, but many say that his work was indirectly influenced by years of playing classical instruments and tedious learning of music theory.
At the age of 13, and one year after moving accross the Baltic sea from Riga to Stockholm, Chris participated in the Swedish national competition for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with a pop song “Förlora inte tid” (Do Not Lose Any Time) and got a place in the semifinal. It gave Chris a better understanding of what is takes to be an artist. At the same time, Chris realised that sweet pop was probably not his life passion.
Righ after the Eurovision song contest, Chris started experimenting with own production of electronic music. The same year, in 2013, he released his first electronic music album “Everything Can Happen” which is available on Spotify. It had a variety of different inspirations. The melody from Are You Ready was made almost instantly, when Chris was on a long journey in a car that lacked electricity socket and his computer battery was already down, so he had to work really fast. The hit How Are You Doing was hinting at Chris' former pop background, and the drop of the song was made from different bass and synthesizer sounds.
In parallel with composing electronic music Chris started to perfrom as a DJ. He has mostly played in different private parties. Most recently, he won the first prize at the Young DJ Competion in Stocholm in October 2013.
At the moment, Chris is working on his next album. He has also started his own new record studio in order to help other young artists reach broader audience.
