Cēsinieku Klubs ir domubiedru organizācija, kas apvieno esošos un bijušos cēsniekus – savas dzimtās pilsētas patriotus. Kluba biedri sanāk kopā, lai gūtu pozitīvas emocijas un uzturētu saikni ar Cēsīm, kā arī ģenerē un realizē radošus projektus, lai brīvprātīgi un pašaizliedzīgi palīdzētu Cēsīm kļūt par modernu, attīstītu un atpazīstamu pilsētu Latvijā un Eiropā.

The association “Cēsinieku klubs” was established in 2001. It was found to encourage and unite former residents from town Cesis – patriots of their native town, in purpose to support the prosperity and welfare of the city and its current inhabitants. The main task of the club was to strengthen an economic and cultural relations between Cesis and Riga and other cities in Latvia. In 2001-2004 we have taken part in discussions about development plans of the the city, prepared the plan of ideas for Cesis 800rd anniversary celebration, have promoted economic, cultural and educational relation between Cesis and other cities, also maintained the connection between Cesis and its former inhabitants. Since 2005 our tasks were to participate enthusiastically in the organization of Cesis 800rd anniversary celebration, support socially unprosperous and low-income families, organize different educational and informational activities about career opportunities and professions for students, give financial and material support to schools.

Since 2001 our main achievements:

1.Support on organization and financial investments for “Cesis 800th anniversary (announcing and presentation of anniversary (2002), fundraising for the project (2002), strategy output for 800rd anniversary celebration (2003), adventured youth relay “Get acquainted with Cesis!” (2004), an auction organized with unique belongings of famous inhabitants of Cesis in purpose to donate money for children’s playground in the town (2006).

2.Specially supportable and charity project – renewing the facade of St. John’s church (fundraising for the project in several proposals, donation attraction, for ex., in 2006 with the help and support of member of the Club and Latvian parliament Uldis Klaus there was given the financial support for the project - 20 000 LVL. This investment let to finish the work on technical project till the end of 2006).

3.Youth activities (Students who study in Riga were deliberately informed about the existence and activities of the Club in 2002. In the result of it gathered the group of young person’s – ex-residents of Cesis, who has taken part in international seminars and projects in Greece, Slovakia and Turkey. In the result international exchange project “Keep our brains at home” was realized in cooperation with “The Agency of International Programs for Youth in action”. In the frame of this project youth from Poland, Hungary and Latvia gathered in Cesis to discuss and actualize questions: why youth are leaving their towns, the reasons and possible solutions for this problem. Now the club has started project “One profession with different faces” – round of six talking series in schools, where professionals of different occupation meet with pupils from Cesis in purpose to get know more about the most popular professions. The project is financed by Soros Foundation - Latvia).

4.The support for inhabitants of Cesis (The club has given support to inhabitants and organizations of Cesis (medicine for child with serious disease, gifts for low income families, donation for talented Cesis residents, educational seminar fot Cesis hospital emergency medicine department).

5.Civil society fortification (The club has attracted fund from EEZ and EEA grants “NGO grant” in Latvia administrated by Society Integration Foundation from 2009-2011 for project “Support of development of civil society in Cesis district”. The aim of this project is to consolidate socially active people - former and present inhabitants of Cesis in purpose to promote social and economic development in Cesis and all its area with joint action. Within the framework of this project, the club has undertaken the plans to work for new projects which will strengthen the civil society of Cesis district. Some planned activities include discussions about social-economic issues in Cesis district and research of these problems, conference about Cesis development, organization the second part of youth project “Keep our brains at home”, etc. Also “Cesinieku klubs” has organized the pre-election discussion in Cesis before municipal election in May of 2009; The club members has joined the project “Cesis 2014” with ideas and consultation for Cesis Local Municipality, supporting the Cesis candidate to title of the European Capital of Culture. The Club members has also joined the British Council project “Creative Cities” and taken part in Future City Game in Cesis, creating ideas how to develop the Old town of Cesis).
